Death of Dante Parker

Dante Parker, a 36-year-old African-American man, was suspected of forcefully breaking into a home in the 13000 blocks of Bucknell Court in Victorville. Dante was a father of 5 children. He was also a well-known newspaper pressman. Police officers used a taser to shock him as they struggled to take him to custody.

A second deputy helped handcuff Dante, and they placed him in the back seat of the patrol unit. Officers claimed that they were forced to use a taser during Dante’s arrest, for he allegedly fought with a female deputy and left bruises on her arms.

On August 12, 2014, Dante Parker died while he was in police custody at Victorville police department. His death is believed to have been a result of being subjected to the taser for more than 15 times.

Dante was a loving and amazing husband, father, son, brother, and friend to many. He was the breadwinner of his family and their rock.
